Item Information
Item # 1: ( 80-11 - 00 )
The study shall cover the positions in the areas of General Government Administration, Public Works, and Community Services, including Library Services, Council on Aging, Recreation, Family and Youth Services, and Cable Access Television. Public Safety positions exclusive of Police Patrol Officers, Police Sergeants, Firefighters, Fire Captains and Dispatchers shall be included. The purpose of the study is to review the existing classification and compensation plans and benefits structure and recommend updates to ensure that all positions within the Town are internally equitable and externally competitive. The end product of the study, as detailed in the Scope of Services, will include recommendations for the following: an updated classification schedule, updated job descriptions, a wage comparison with comparable communities, an updated compensation plan and an evaluation system used for evaluating positions in relation to their placement on the recommended compensation plan. The recommendations will allow for efficient and effective classification processes, offer fair and competitive wages, comply with state and federal laws and conform to accepted practices, which will aid the Town in its ability to recruit and retain qualified workers.
